Coronavirus update October 26th
Dear client and partner,
The national organization of midwives (KNOV) has issued strict regulations for obstetric care during the corona crisis. Every midwifery practice in the Netherlands is bound to these regulations.
After every new advice from the government the situation is reevaluated and things can change. So please check our website (news) and social media (Facebook: Midwifery Practice Eindhoven), so that you stay informed about the latest developments.
All appointments are done face to face, except the intake interview (because of the duration of this appointment) and the check 6 weeks after birth. If you are more comfortable with some other appointments also being done by phone, then please let us know.
If you have an appointment one of the following weeks, we ask you the following:
-Don't come to the appointment too early, maximum 5 minutes in advance. This way we can limit the amount of people in the waiting room.
-Desinfect or wash your hands when you enter the health center.
-Come alone to the appointment, as much as possible.
-If, as a partner, you are coming to the appointment, try to respect the 1,5 meter distance to us.
-Do you have a cold, are you coughing, do you have a fever or sudden loss of taste and smell, then give us a call so that we can see together if your appointment can be postponed.
Because of the increasing number of infections, wearing a face mask is obliged in all SGE health centers, as well as in the hospitals and Diagnostiek voor U. Of course with the exception of the women in labor.
Have you just returned from a country for which the Dutch travelling advice is 'orange' or 'red'?
In that case the urgent advice is to quarantine yourself at home for 10 days. If you have an appointment with us in those 10 days, then call us so that we can see together if your appointment can be postponed. You can check the Dutch travelling advice on the website of the Rijksoverheid.
It is possible to make an appointment for the placement of an IUD.
Blood withdrawal at Diagnostiek voor U can only be done by appointment (online or by phone 040-2141149) and only at certain locations.
During hospital appointments your are being asked to come alone as much as possible.
Because we need to focus on our medical care, we won't make any (new) appointments for fun ultrasounds at the moment.
The choice for a delivery at home or in the hospital was there the whole time. We didn't experience any capacity problems at the hospitals and it has always been safe for you to go there.
In the hospital only 1 person is welcome to support you during labor.
If you have to stay in the hospital longer after birth, then the rules of the hospital apply regarding visitors.
Do you or your partner have a cold, are you coughing, do you have a fever or sudden loss of taste and smell at the moment the delivery starts? Please tell us in time so we can take our precautions.
We are doing the necessary postpartum visits.
The maternity care organizations ask you to not have visitors during the hours the maternity assistant is in your house.
The heel prick (blood test) and hearing test of your child will be done as usual.
Do you or your partner have a cold, are you coughing, do you have a fever or sudden loss of taste in the first week after birth? Please tell us and your maternity care organization.
The same advice applies to pregnant women as to non-pregnant women. So keep an eye on the news and follow the general guidelines of the RIVM (www.rivm.nl also in English).
All midwifery practices in our region are doing their very best to keep the chance of contamination and spreading of the virus as small as possible. We have agreed to help each other in case midwives get sick.
We realize that we ask a lot from you during this crisis. All measures are taken to keep everybody as healthy as possible. But it is not the way we would like to guide you through this special period in your life.
Of course, as always, you can reach us 24/7. Don’t hesitate to call us with your questions and worries. We will always see you or visit you if necessary.
