Flu vaccination for pregnant women
From this year, pregnant women from 22 weeks of pregnancy can get a flu vaccination.
The purpose of the flu vaccination is:
> Preventing flu and the consequences of flu in newborns. They cannot yet be vaccinated against the flu themselves, but they can become ill. By giving the flu vaccination during pregnancy, the mother makes antibodies against the flu virus that also reach the baby via de placenta.
> Preventing flu and the consequences of flu in mothers. About half of flu infections in mothers are prevented by vaccination. Also fewer mothers are hospitalized.
If you would like a flu vaccination, you can contact your GP.
